The new Wavion WBS-5000P
base station is an advanced omni-directional wireless broadband base station, operating
in the 4.9–5.9 GHz unlicensed band. Based on an array of three radios and three
antennas, the WBS-5000P leverages Wavion’s unique Beamforming technology to provide
extended range and superior connectivity under both Line-of-Sight (LOS) and Non-Line-of-Sight
(NLOS) conditions, with the best and lowest cost per coverage area in the industry.
To promote the introduction of WBS-5000P, Wavion hereby offers until the end of
Q3 2011, an updated 5 GHz starter kit, now including WBS-5000P, for a special discounted
price. Grab this opportunity and take advantage of our introductory promotion and
move to Wavion Beamforming Wi-Fi in 5 GHz.

The Starter Kits provide new customers an easy and convenient introduction to Wavion’s
products and capabilities. A special coverage test tool is included in 2.4 GHz Starter
Kits, enabling mapping coverage and capacity over Google Earth for optimal radio
planning.
Over the last couple of months, we have updated the Starter Kits to reflect various
product changes. Click here to read more about using downwards tilted antennas for
noisy environments in the 2.4 GHz Starter Kits, and about WBS-5000P in the 5GHz
Starter Kit.

Wavion’s technology incorporates advanced mechanisms for interference mitigation.
The spatially adaptive Beamforming focuses the energy per customer and per packet
on both Tx and Rx, thereby suppressing interference. The Dynamic Interference Handling
(DIH) mechanism enables operation under severe interference conditions. The Automatic
Channel Selection (ACS) mechanism enables easy selection of the best and cleanest
channel, and Wavion Adaptive Rate Adaptation (WARA) mechanism is specially tuned
for optimal performances in high interference outdoor environments.

In the coming weeks, Wavion will be releasing version 4.5 of its firmware. The
new firmware adds enhanced support for Wi-Fi hot zones and cellular data
offloading. The new firmware enables seamless authentication for Wi-Fi users
using their cellular credentials, as well as facilitating unified billing, by
introducing a new integrated accounting function within the base stations. The
enabled authentication mechanisms include both EAP-SIM and EAP-AKA protocols,
commonly used by many Smartphones.
