This paper describes the opportunities and the challenges facing large scale
outdoor Wi-Fi networks and points out the importance of spatially adaptive
Beamforming technology for the ultimate success of these networks.

In the coming weeks, Wavion will be releasing version 4.5 of its firmware. The
new firmware adds enhanced support for Wi-Fi hot zones and cellular data
offloading. The new firmware enables seamless authentication for Wi-Fi users
using their cellular credentials, as well as facilitating unified billing, by
introducing a new integrated accounting function within the base stations. The
enabled authentication mechanisms include both EAP-SIM and EAP-AKA protocols,
commonly used by many Smartphones.
